We are looking for…

To strengthen our Origination & Development Department in Laketricity USA, we are looking for a Floating Solar Developer in a permanent employment contract, based in New York & New Jersey. Ideally, the position would start as soon as possible.

Your role within the company

The role of the solar project developer is to play a major role in expanding new partnerships with reservoir/pond owners to develop floating PV power plant projects. The employee is involved daily in driving the performance of the existing projects portfolio in NY/NJ and in seeking out new projects in New York and New Jersey. Their essential function is to prospect, identify, and communicate with high-level decision makers to create new opportunities and ultimately cultivate new customer relationships. It requires to deal with commercial, economic, administrative, legal and basic technical aspects of floating PV projects, from project identification to site control contract signature.

Your missions as Floating Solar Project Developer

Your assignment will include some or all of the following activities:

Your main responsibilities will include researching and contacting small to large businesses/public entities that own a body of water mainly in NY and NJ:

  • Determine who owns the reservoir/pond that can accommodate a floating solar system as per company criterion;
  • Contact and engage target landowners by verifying contact information, calling, texting, emailing, networking/social networking, and making visits to landowners’ homes or places of work;
  • Conduct site evaluations for potential projects;
  • Identify what would be the best offer to the landowner: Rent only or Rent + PPA offer. (Option to purchase can also be proposed on a case-by-case basis);
  • Grow and maintain a large pipeline of opportunities and keep them up-to-date;
  • Report to Direction accurately and on-time;
  • Create, present and negotiate all proposals including Option to Lease, Lease and Power Purchase Agreements according to Company guidelines;
  • Prioritize and follow up each project development with support of the technical team and direction;
  • Develop and nurture strategic partnerships for project development;
  • Stay abreast of all changes in the solar markets – including policy changes, competitor news, and market developments;
  • Attending important solar/water tradeshows, networking events, and conferences as directed;
  • Attending Company product and service training sessions.

Your profile

Your academic & professional background

• Bachelor’s degree;
• Experience negotiating key agreements, preferably with landowners, vendors and municipalities;
• The following are preferred but are not necessary: Prior relevant professional experience working within a solar development company or real-estate industry in the US, Familiarity with NY/NJ real estate law and the project entitlement process and Familiarity in using GIS software and Dynamics CRM.

• Based in New Jersey or based in New York with ability/ willingness to travel.

Starting annual base salary for this role is $60,000 to $90,000 + Commissions.
Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, education, licenses/certifications, essential job duties and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
