The benefits and technical details of the Benten Numa floating solar power plant
The plant has a power generation capacity of 1,490 kWp and it is expected to produce 1,747MWh of electricity in its first year.
It is equipped with 665 W panels from Canadian Solar and it counts 2240 modules. The electricity produced is equivalent to the electricity production of around 338 households. In addition, the renewable energy produced will avoid the emission of 745 tonnes of CO2 in its first year, compared with non-renewable energy production.
“Benten Numa project is typically why Floating solar was invented. Generating electricity in dense and populated areas with no land usage conflict. This project is in the industrial and commercial outskirts of Tokyo megacity where each m2 is valued either for agriculture, industry or residential.”
